AUSTIN, Texas, Apr. 25, 2005 — I don't feel so hot when I get up. It's been raining all night (well, I heard it raining anyway) but I'm supposed to play tennis. At at Circle C at that. I'm sure that the way I feel is due to the nachos SuRu and I had after the movie. All those jalapenos. So late.

I feel better after I struggle into my tennis clothes and get some coffee. Then I get an e-mail. No tennis. No surprise there. Light rain still falling.

I get into workout clothes. After a bit of fooling around with my computer I go for a workout. A short one. Thirty minutes on the bike and a few situps and ab things and a couple of sets of things for the chest and shoulders.

I go home and I eat leftover fish tacos, change to jeans without showering, brush my teeth, run my hands through my hair and go see about Dad.

First stop is the pharmacy. They don't have the prescriptions I got called in ready but I wait and they get them done. Then I go to the store and get some bananas for him. I deliver this stuff, tidy up his kitchen, help him get a birthday card made up for his sister in Maine, get his mail in. Nothing much, but with the stops and the round trip to my house, it takes a couple of hours.

At home, I work on some computer problems. (Have I mentioned that McAfee downloaded updates that ate my machines? Anyway, I hate them.)

I also work an hour or so on my project for the club. I have received input from a bunch of people about a casual dining menu and I have to collate it and make recommendations.

Then we cook our dinner. Beef patties made with this Barista burger recipe FFP likes (you put honey, onions, garlic and ginger in the meat...what's not to like?) and fresh steamed Brussels sprouts with lemon butter and sauteed julienne zuchinni with lemon pepper and sliced tomatoes. We finish off a Pinot (Argyle) that we opened on Sunday.

I am tired for some reason. We settle into our chairs, I finish the wine and we have some cheese and I have a granola bar and I doze off and on, work the puzzle in The New York Times and we watch a DVD of Lawrence of Arabia. Well, when I'm not sleeping. Then I get into the bed and continue sleeping.

This is just another day when I can't seem to get 'caught up.' I can't even get the newspapers read. I can't figure out how I'm spending my time. Sigh.
