"Delays have dangerous ends." |

accomplishment FFP drove Dad and I to the court house where we met the lawyer. At the security check, a lady guard saw my dad's pen knife and said, "Are you an attorney?" He didn't hear her. They took it away and when we were upstairs I told him what she said. "Maybe they let the lawyers have weapons," we speculated. "I'm glad you didn't hear her insult you," I joked. Dad got sworn in, we got in front of the line to appear before the judge, got the probate done and stood in a line to get letters of testamentary. I called FFP on the cell phone and he came back to pick us up. Dad and I decided to see what else we could accomplish. We drove back downtown and went to the east side on Cesar Chavez and got some more copies of the death certificate. We went to University Credit Union and withdrew most of mother's money and took it to the bank account Dad uses and opened a money market account. While there we got my signature on those accounts. FFP fixed us a lunch of chicken breasts in Mom's spaghetti sauce and salad. We felt very accomplished. Dad left to go visit friends and then go to church for a supper and service and I went to the gym. After the gym I went to the grocery store. I had other errands in mind but blew them off. I was going for toilet paper and orange juice but I ended up with cereal, milk, tuna, spinach, apples, sodas (on sale), and a package of black beans and a package of brown rice. FFP had hinted that I should make dinner. When I got home, I boiled some eggs and made a tuna salad. FFP went to the gym and SuRu and I walked the dogs around the neighborhood a little bit. We ate some of the tuna salad and then I ate some cereal. I watched half of the program on care giving on PBS (Thou Shalt Honor) but it was too depressing and so we watched Law and Order. |
