don't get too excited When things seem to swing your way, look out. They are likely to hit you in the head. At lunch, I went to the AAA office out 183. I forget how far away it really is and how much traffic. But, if you are a member, they give free American Express Traveler's checks. I always keep some around on trips although case and credit cards usually see one through. After I get them, I stop in a greasy chicken place (Golden Chick) and have lunch. The chicken is OK. The sides are puzzling and not so good (mac & cheese and cole slaw both taste odd). We agreed to go to a fundraiser for the YWCA. We've been to this deal for a couple of years. It was overrun with liberal politicians this year as the election is nigh. Lloyd Doggett allowed that Gore would win and the Democrats would take the house. (Just one, please. I hate it when one party is really in power.) Penny Reeves Golf did a good job of being the MC. There were awards for women of distinction. Silent Auctions and Live Auctions. Dinner. It all moved along at a mercifully fast clip. And I was home in my easy chair. There is a different category of suspect at such an event than at, say, an opera fundraiser. Yes, indeed.
