new york, new york

No, I'm still at home in Austin. But we are thinking about New York.

After work today I was looking and looking at the bookshelves in here. I just knew I had some New York stuff. A Michelin Green Guide and some maps.

Headed out after dark for a walk. On the way over to get SuRu and her dog, I thought, "They are her books!" I had gotten her some New York stuff because she was talking about going. Then she didn't. Then I borrowed them and loaned them to someone else. Then they gave them back and I gave them back to SuRu.

"Let me ask you this." I say.

"What?" she says.

"Do you have some books on New York?" I say.

"Maybe." She says.

It is dark and not too hot. People have their front doors open. Little views of their lives. A woman leans over the back of a chair, talking to someone. A child walks into the living room coughing convincingly. A bid for a sick day from school?

We walked up and down the streets north of 45th and south of here. We seemed to have gone a long way to nowhere. We all get tired. I'm sweating. Chalow is panting.

Back at SuRu's she checks and, yep, there are the New York books and stuff I remembered owning and yet didn't.

Forrest is going to get to see Bobby Short. It's a dream of his. Cool. I hope it all works out.

The company is adding a coffee bar in the lobby. It was manned rather inexpertly today although the stuff was free today. The are going to charge for it later. I miss the Capresso but normal coffee is starting to taste OK again.
