AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 2, 2006 Last night we sauteed some chicken and then chopped it up and cooked it with some taco seasoning. We are too lazy to mix the spices ourselves. We prefer Wick Fowler's blend but we had struck out on that and FFP grabbed some store brand out of the pantry. We used this and onions, cheese and tomato to make an omelet with some leftover Ranchero Sauce on it. Later I had heartburn and felt a little light-headed. I didn't think much about it. I could taste the seasoning coming up. I didn't take anything for the problems and didn't think much more about it. Until this morning when we were both back from working out and FFP said he had to sit down because he felt light-headed. I mentioned my symptoms. We fished out another pack of that seasoning |

stuff. And the culprit emerged: MSG! We knew FFP was way allergic and I thought I was. This proves it, I guess. Nasty stuff. As our days progressed today, independently, I went to lunch with a friend and, on the way back, stopped at Central Market. They didn't have what I needed but I decided to see if they had gotten in the Wick Fowler Taco Seasoning. I bought a bunch of packs. FFP went to the bank and did some errands. He decided to go to Central Market to get his favorite anti-oxidants. And...he bought a bunch of Wick Fowler Taco Seasoning. Wick Fowler stuff just has the (perfect in my opinion) blend of spices for about a pound of meat or chicken. No filler (I found one brand that had lactose...geez FFP can't digest that) and no frigging MSG. FFP said (maybe, possible poetic license), "Preece and Ball corner the market in Wick Fowler Taco Seasoning! Mavens at loss to explain." |
