don't worry The frame carpenter said to me today, while discarding pieces of the house, "You don't have to worry about your house falling down."
He was, of course, referring to the old construction. So, if I were given to worry, I could still worry since they were ripping out my old, solid construction and going at it with nail guns. Still. Why worry after all? This house has stood for fifty years and stood up to some remodeling and will stand somewhat longer. But nothing is forever. We only think things last a long time because some things do, relative to us. Then you read about all the things in history that are just lost. And you think of the millions of years before man and the millions that will probably pass after man. No, I'm not going to worry. Really. About my house falling down or anything else.

I spent time figuring stuff out with the contractor and peeking at things that were going on here and there. I spent over an hour in the gym. I went out to eat with a friend and we lingered. I sat and read my book and papers. I also tried to catch up this journal. Sigh.

Warmly Inscribed by Lawrence and Nancy Goldstone is a small, fun book and is going fast. The copy I have was purchased at a discount place and is a sort of remaindered reject probably. It has a felt-marker stripe on the top of the pages. A sure sign that this book isn't collectible. How funny is that?

I almost caught up with the journal and it almost feels like writing sometimes.
