A Swiss carved wooded
figure of a spinner...I gave it to my mother as a souvenir over thirty
years ago...before she even took up spinning.

I never knew
Sometimes you learn something you
just never knew.
In Austin's version
of Hyde Park, there are letter streets going North and South. Starting
at Guadalupe they go A to H. Only there is no E. Where E should be
is SpEEdway. I've driven and walked there so many times. But I never
really realized. Just like I didn't know until last Saturday when
I walked a home tour in this neighborhood that the admin building
at the State Hospital was built in 1857 and is something like the
third oldest public building still standing in our state.
Sometimes you learn
things whether you mean to do it or not.

JUST
TYPING
What obscure
knowledge.
Each of us has.
That help us interpret.
And navigate the world.
Sometimes one little fact.
And using it.
Could change history.

Food Diary.
A breakfast taco with cheese, potato and bacon at about 9:30. Coffee,
of course.
Some chips/cheese/salsa/onions about
3:30.
A gin and tonic and a vodka gimlet
from 7:30-9.
Half of an app of smoked salmon
tostadas and marinated vegies, a glass of wine, a chile relleno with chicken,
almonds and capers in a light cilantro cream sauce.

Time flies....
Increasingly, I feel like my time
is wasted by charity dos.

Reading.
Read a little newspaper and some
of Peter the Great.. This is getting old, isn't it? Must finish
that book.

What's my
excuse today?
Had to tap my foot at a charity
event and wasted time updating this journal saying why I'm not writing.
