Mom with Chalow when the parents first moved here...a move that turned out to be easier than I might have thought

it was easier than you might think

Today was a day I dreaded a little, but it was easier than I imagined.

We are going to dispose of a van load of stuff. Only we have to pack the van. We've been preparing for that...packing, measuring, identifying, plotting and planning. I thought it would be harder. But our planning paid off. We did run the battery down by having the doors open and the interior lights on for so long. But we boosted it up off my car and ran it a while and it was fine. Things went amazing well. So much better than I thought they would. When we leave in a few days, we will have only a few more things inside: Dad's luggage, my gadget bag, an insulated bag with some snacks like carrots and cheese, water and sodas to keep us from having to stop and have food plus commuter cups and such.

This van load was another gigantic step on the way to getting things disposed of and organized. Oh, sure, there are still lots of miniature displays and some drawers and closets still stuffed with things (although some of this has been disposd of), but we are making progress. We are scattering the stuff and getting it discarded or placed in new homes. Slowly but surely. I wish I was doing as well with my own things.

I wrote a friend of mine about the success. I gave the email a subject line something like "It's a Miracle I tell you" and then thought better of it because the subject reminded me of spam.

JUST TYPING

Imagine.
How hard doing that thing would be.
Then set out to begin.
And just do it.

Food Diary.

coffee, coffee

water, coffee

10am banana

12:30pm salmon salad, water, two pieces of bread (large) and butter, some of Dad's French fries

8:30pm some strawberries (maybe 10) some cottage cheese (maybe a cup) mixed with hot sauce and downed with tortilla chips

Time flies....

How did I spend it?

Working out. Scanning, downloading and optimizing pictures for FFP, reading papers, loading the van, helping Dad recharge the battery on the van, having lunch with Dad, helping FFP with computer problems, calculating the family budget. Hey...and I also discovered a "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" game on the WEB. Addictive that. Nope...didn't make a million.

Reading.

Robert Massie's Peter the Great...got packed for the trip so it won't be read for a few days. I did read in one of my newspapers about the three-hundreth anniversary of St. Pete. So when I go on my trip I can read about the establishment of a brilliant city on an unimpressive bit of marshland and think that it was three hundred years ago.

Still reading Journey Through Genius. It makes me want to study old basic math texts. I'm sure I knew a lot of this stuff once. I'll probably put this one aside when I go on vacation. Wonder if I'll finish it?

What's my excuse today?

Surely I have one. Of course I do. I had to do the budget. I had to pack that van.

Exercise

17 minutes on recumbent bike
Chest, shoulders, back, abs and lower back exercises.
15 minutes on recumbent bike

.

Felt pretty good when I got up and great after my workout and during the packing exercise.
