the essentials

I worked. Things went better. For lunch I had some sushi and sashimi at Kyoto. "What, no Gyoza?" asked the young waitress. I go there too much.

I love murals and Anne's (displayed in picture of the day) is especially fine. The mind has furniture as surely as the house, I always say. Well, at least today, I say that. The material world and the emotional world are so tied up for humans that we do lose track of the difference. But the things that count are hidden away somewhere.

I think I'm going to switch from books back to French lessons in my car when I finish the Dickens. I've been listening to books on tape for a while. I think the French tapes will feel fresh again.

When I got home from work, Forrest wasn't there but he arrived shortly. He had a couple of sacks of groceries. He made tuna steak with sauteed bananas and pineapple and a little horseradish. It was a tuna kind of day for me since I'd had tuna sushi and sashimi. That's good, I love tuna. We ate it with a simple spinach salad.

With an online diary, it's a question of who gets weary first. The writer or the readers. In my case (based on responses to my puzzle pictures and trackers), there weren't that many readers to start with! And, you know what? That's not such a bad thing. I love talking to myself.

Did a dog walk in the dark. In the interest of relieving the boredom, we walked up Burnet Road. Loud but we got to peek into the Little Longhorn Tavern and window shop at Cierra. It's different walking in the dark. It's as if the houses are turned inside out. You can't see the neat paint jobs on the outside. Instead, you catch a glimpse of a quilt or Indian blanket on a wall or see a room lit only by golden light a pair of curio cabinets. You see flowers on a kitchen counter and a dramatic flicker from a well-placed TV.

The eXtreme dogwalking team is thinking of getting some gear from glow dog but currently we just try to wear light-colored clothing and I wear a flashing red light and have a flashlight in my leash reel that I turn on when it's really dark.

The walk leaves me warm and almost sweating. It feels good.

I've decided it's easier to put the pointer to the next day when I load the pages up. So...if you get a 404 so be it. Tomorrow is also a day.

"There is nothing nobler, despite the anguish and the torment,
Than to battle against mystery and darkness.
"

"Rien n'est plus beau, malgré l'angoisse et le tourment,
Que la bataille avec l'énigme et ténèbres.
