lonely hotel room

I'm always amazed at the moment one walks out of an International arrivals and sees all the hopeful people waiting for their friends or relatives or business associates to get off the plane. Our business associate wasn't there yet. We actually arrived early and breezed through immigration and customes. A quick shot of espresso for me while my companion kept a look-out. Money changing for him. I try to bring currency with me. Then it isn't a 'have to' chore at the other end.

We had bar food for lunch. My colleague ate toast with ham and cheese and two eggs. The dish had a name which translated literally from the Dutch as 'bouncer.' I drank beer and had a toasted cheese. This helped me with a nap before dinner. Dinner was in one of the few places in town that was open on Sunday night. But the food and wine were good.

It's so bizarre to live in hotel rooms. You go through the room's ammenities...hair dryer?, little soaps?, robe? (always with the warning that you shouldn't pack it and take it home). You check out the mini-bar where there are three dollar cokes and even more expensive whisky. You listen to the TV. Flip, flip. Especially odd in Europe with this language and that, different subtitles. I sometimes find myself fully engaged with a program without being able to tell what's going on.

Are we on the time zone routine yet? Yeah, sure. Work tomorrow.
