OK--let's see if this works better if I start doing it in the morning.
The stock market took a terrible hit yesterday, thanks to our esteemed
President and his protégé-running buddy Tony Blair smarting
off about exposing corporate-sensitive data to the public on the Internet.
I went ahead and bailed on a stock I still had a profit in, since we're
going to need some serious money for paying taxes and other reasons
in the next few months. What a jerk. He took office just in time to
crank the top tax rate and hurt us badly and now, he's finishing things
with a hit. I just wish that philandering turkey would get a job in
the private sector so some HR Director could have the pleasure of firing
him. I mean, that stunt with Monica L. alone would have been enough
to get him tossed and maybe sued.
I haven't had the heart to turn on CNBC yet and see what the futures
are doing.

Got a nice note from one of my old co-workers at MRI this morning.
Darn, say what I will about the treatment I got at that place, we did
make some good friends there. And where would I be if I hadn't met Linda?
If only you could go back and erase the bad memories somehow--like bad
sectors on a disk. Maybe I should write Peter Norton about that topic
sometime. "Pete, this is Forrest Preece down here in Austin. .
."

Last night, Al "Luddite"Gore was on PBS News saying that
George W. is unfit for higher office because he wants to to undermine
Social Security, which Gore called one of the best programs in history.
I hope that preposterous statement gets some play in the press. (Doubt
it.) Gore gets such a smug little tone in his voice when he's making
ridiculous remarks like that. I hate to tell old Al, but no one in my
generation with any sense is counting on getting a cent out of that
Ponzi scheme. We see it as money yanked out of our pockets every year
and then thrown down the drain. But a Senator's son doesn't have to
worry about things like that, I'd imagine.

Well, it's time to get my act together and do something I have been
putting off for a couple of days. You never outgrow your need for homework,
I suppose. Later.
