March 5
Had a very relaxing day. Puttered around the house and the yard during
the morning, placing plants for later digging and doing some maintenance
things.
Read a bit and then went to PAC to be assistant stage manager for the
opera. In other words, Susan Threadgill let me listen in on her earphones
and sit backstage with her during the production. Aida is really a beautiful
opera, but it's long.
During the third act, I went upstairs to be with the young people who
run the super slides. They have it down to a science. Of course, I had
ice water in my veins at that age, too. Susan T. was really nice to
me and it's a joy to watch someone that skilled work. Couldn't believe
the gyrations the guy under the big revolving bird on the stage had
to go through. In order to make it stop turning, he has to time exactly
where to shut the motor off, because there is no brake on the thing.
Whew! Not a responsibility I would want to have.
Linda and I have decided to actually do a honeymoon after 23 years.
We got screwed out of a real one by MRI Systems Corp. And Lord knows,
I haven't been able to take off for the last two decades because of
all my precious clients who need me so badly. (And of course, I'm rewarded
with so much loyalty from them. NOT!) Anyway, we're going to NYCity
the first weekend in May. I'm going to line up reservations this week.
Honestly, I'm starting to like the idea of acting like a normal person
who thinks a vacation is his birthright.
Well, time's wasting. Later.
