AUSTIN, Texas, July 2, 2005 — I relaxed today. To start with I got up around the time the tennis was supposed to start. Watched Roddick finish his match to get into the final. Watched Venus pull out her victory. Quite a Ladies Slugfest.

FFP and I met with our housesitters for the upcoming trip. We have given them so much information now we don't know if they will be able to find the piece they need! They have kept the house before, of course, and are pretty familiar with it all. My dad comes by and they meet him. They've made 'welfare' calls to him but never met him. He has brought some

paperwork from one of his financial accounts that needs filling out and a stack of mail about medical payments and such for me to look through. I give him information about where we are going tomorrow with him (a trip to the Hill Country for a party his friends are giving at their weekend ranch), stuff on where we will be on our vacation, things that have been e-mailed to him. He goes home.

I get off to the gym. I only do thirty minutes on the bike. I do a bunch of sets of different weight things. My back is a little stiff for some reason.

At home I get cleaned up and eat some snacks. We are going out with a friend tonight.

Our friend comes by and we go to Roy's. We eat and drink and listen to jazz until the music stops. (Our friend Kevin Ahart is singing with a small group: sax, piano and upright bass.) When that music is over at 10 we go over to the Four Seasons and have a drink for old time's sake. The valets still recognize us. They have a guy playing piano but we don't really get into it. It's late. We go home.

We go to bed. I'm thinking...tomorrow more tennis! I even dreamed about tennis the other night. I dreamed Sharapova resigned instead of being beaten. Weird.

our friend brought her digital camera and caught us at Roy's after we'd had a bit of wine
