I was pretty active
today. I skipped the bike riding I usually do at the end of a workout
and changed into a dry shirt and dry socks and went out in the heat
to do a tennis clinic. It was hot and some of the drills were real
exercise. I enjoy getting exercise and I'm also enjoying the fact
that it doesn't hurt as much to do stuff. I drank a lot of water and
had a banana and didn't even get cramps later.
Yeah, they tell
you to stay active. Used to we played tennis for fun and worked out
to try to slim down or look good. Now we try to protect our bones
and just keep moving so we don't get too old.
I noticed that
when Dad and I were driving across the state that I would see a path
up a hillside and think 'a hike would be nice...go up a little, go
a couple of miles.' Exercise is addictive, I think.
I've been worried
about my sister, in the hospital once again. If I ever have a ruptured
brain aneurysm or a stroke and live to tell the story, maybe if I
can get fit then I can rehab better. Guess I should lose some more
weight. (I hear you...cheese, whole milk, chips, I know, I know.)
Also, of course, there's the whole bone density thing. Building muscle
is supposed to help.
How quickly we
get old...at least in our minds.
