I actually went
to the zoo today. With my two great nephews (14 months and three years)
and my niece and her husband. A numerical advantage is good when dealing
with kids.
Life seemed kind
of like a zoo, too. In order to go to the zoo in one car (my niece's
only had room for two adults and our van only had three seats total
in it because of the stuff we hauled), we had to put the kid's seats
in my sister's van. With kids you have to take all this gear. We took
some food. Supplemented with just a couple of drinks, we had a big
day at the zoo for a few bucks. (My niece belongs to the zoo and got
us in free and we spent a little on some tickets for the train. My
niece had a ticket for the carrousel and Jack got a ride, but Jeffy
had to look on and he did it with great attention as you see, looking
like a little solemn zoo animal himself.
The kids are dozing,
of course, when they take me home so my niece just takes her dad's
van home to return it later. Some ex-neighbors are bringing dinner
for all of us. They scored all this food at Marie Callendars and brought
their grown kids. The house was a zoo with big kids, little kids,
food, my sister with her broken leg.
Yep, sometimes
life is a zoo. Most of the time, let's say. And sometimes you go
to the zoo, too. And see soem strange critters. On both sides
of the bars.
