"There are two things to aim
at in life: first, to get what you want, and after that to enjoy it. Only
the wisest of mankind achieve the second."
It is not enough to be happy; it is necessary, in addition, that others not be. |

Sunday I'm up early. (Still getting readjusted to the time.) I work on the personal budget until SuRu calls. We go to Hyde Park and walk the dogs to and fro, stopping at Quack's for coffee and a snack. I'm feeling much better and more together. When I get home, I do a little work on the bamboo project. The endless bamboo elimination. I go to Eckerd's and take my last roll of film from the trip (which I shot up in Hyde Park). I consider buying a couple of other things, but I don't. I decide to get next day processing to get it cheaper. And I've clipped a coupon for this service. This is retirement me. At home, I write a potential article for the West Austin News. FFP has been writing stories about people for almost a year in a column called West Side Stories. He's invited me to write one as a 'guest.' I write about a friend of my parents' who has written a self-published book. And the day drifts away. I read some of the Sunday New York Times. I watch a couple of Simpsons, King of the Hill, Sopranos, The Practice. Only I don't watch that closely. I fall asleep. I hide behind my paper when it's violent. Somewhere in there, FFP makes chicken breasts with cheese and tomato sauce and I bake a potato we share. I drink a Cherry Coke and eat Goldfish. I complete the evening by getting caught up in watching a really bad movie with Barbra Streisand (The Mirror Has Two Faces). What gets into me watching these things?
