when Sunday isn't followed by a workday I'm still a little hung up and anxious. But it isn't about being unemployed. Nope, I'm worrying about other things now. My ISP isn't serving my WEB page from the pages and changes I upload but, rather, from some old backup? A frustrating phone call, online 'support' that doesn't. It's not cosmic. If you are reading this, it got cleared up. SuRu and I go for a walk. We have no idea where to go and end up parking near 34th and Grandview, walking down some 'near the University' streets with stately old houses and student dives. The house shown on the page apparently burned, but they'd salvaged the two-story porch for another day. The day was cool but the walk was pleasant. We went to this coffee house on Guadalupe, south of 29th but before campus, that I'd never been in. Two 40-50 somethings, one in plaid shorts and a straw hat, discuss investments and and 'bubbles.' I don't know why, but I'm betting they don't have too many actual investments but you never know. Even though this walk is near campus, we only encounter one glass spill from the college kids with no conscience about walking pets. One time we walked in west campus and feared for the dog's pads. ("We don't have shoes!" they were heard to protest. Actually, they didn't. They're fearless that way.) After the walk, I called a friend about getting together but she wasn't feeling well. Then FFP and I decided to wander around Barnes and Noble. We didn't buy anything but flipped through books and magazines. Near the easy chair where I sat were the books abandoned by another browser. A stack of review notes books (like Cliff Notes but note) for stuff like Sylvia Plath's Bell Jar. And a stack of guidebooks to Maui. Let's see, crib from the review notes, don't even buy them and then plan a trip to Hawaii. The life of these college kids. We had barbequed chicken breast and spinach salad for lunch and I spent the rest of the day reading and getting my thank you notes written. We watched The Sopranos. It's very odd not to have to go to work tomorrow. Because. I quit. It's odd, it's weird but it's cool.
