Craig at Donn's

must get things done I tried hard to make progress today. Really. I have too many tasks, all needing attention at once. And, it's hard to say which is really important. Depends really. My mother called. She is hurting. I'm not sure the cause. The doctor says she has shingles but there is nothing on her skin. She wants me to go buy her a bra that might be more comfortable. At lunch, the company my company leases from is giving a party. Bad barbeque in the courtyard and a band. The line is long so I go to Ross Dress for Less and get a bra for my mom to try. At least things are cheap here. I take it to her. She looks in pain. I don't know what to do for her. Later in the day, she will go to the doctor and get two shots. (What is he giving her? I don't know.) They will give her relief (more like knock her out?) for only a while it turns out. This worries me. When they moved here, I said I was going to go to her doctors with her, find a way to get her better care and fewer prescriptions. No way I could get off as often as she goes to doctors. Some necessary. Maybe all. I don't know. I don't know what to do about it. I eat the bad barbeque, slopping some on my old polo that I dug out of the back of the closet I'm trying to clean out. I talk to a few friends and go back to work. I'm doing the research for a speech and it doesn't feel like real work. FFP calls. Do I want to have a drink on the club's new terrace? Can we go by Zoot to take a picture of the party in the party room? Should we invite Pineapple Girl? Yes to all of it. When I get home I put on some better clothes and we go to Westwood. We meet the Pineapple one there and we have a drink on the terrace. We have some great calamari and asparagus tempura-ed sort of with nice sauces. The terrace is overrun with kids, however. Sigh. Some crying, some alternatively studying their toes and a hamburger. Zoot is more elegant. We get a little taste of Foie Gras and Sauterne with John's compliments. I have a duck and mushroom app and FFP has this pretty goat cheese app which wins the color in food award. We then decide to go to Donn's Depot. I've never been. The band at the company today included our friend Craig on guitar. I think he plays Donn's on Thursdays. Sure enough, he is there. And several people we know. We dance, listen and stay up too late. So it goes.
