chocolate samples, spirtis and friends Wait! She's been reduced to comparing the Port to the Muscat...we are supposed to be comparing this stuff to the chocolate!

of employment and chocolate It's hard to get up and harder still to get off to work. I'm not in all that bad a mood, however. At work, I have a call I'm not very prepared for, but, as it happens, I'm far more prepared than anyone else participating except the chairman. The rest of the day I go from one work activity to another as the spirit moves me. I occasionally surf ebay or something as well or look at the stock market. I eat my lunch from some cheese, carrots and green onions I have in the frig along with some tortilla chips compliments the company. In the evening, I'm invited to a spirits and chocolate tasting. My friend Pam is writing a book about dark chocolate called Chocolate is a Health Food. I've never been very into chocolate myself. However, she has convinced me that (1) dark chocoate is interesting; and (2) tasting it with other things is interesting. So, yeah. Spirits, are, as I say like to say, something else I like. I get to the friend's house right on six o'clock. We have a beer and then some sushi to lay a base. Then we pour out tastes of Muscat, Port, a moderate dark beer, Merlot, Zin and start scientifically matching it to little morsels of dark chocolate. The Merlot dosen't suit on any level. Some of the chocolates clash with the spirits, some inspire. We tell stories. We laugh. We drink some more. Brownies are served up and we visit the spirits again. I fiinish the sweet Muscat, the port and the beer. We try a champagne liqueur a taster has brought along. It's interesting, it's golden like an old Sauterne and not bad at all. I go home. FFP has had some unpleasant news on an old business score. I refuse to be drawn down by it. It's just what is. The next thing to deal with. We've dealt with a lot. We've come out the better for it all. I've tasted some chocolate. I've worked and thought about things. The day has not been bad. Life goes on. Until it's over. |
