thoughts while meeting
"Tout but dénature l'art;
mais l'art atteint un but qu'il n'a pas." Every goal adulterates art; but art attains a goal it does not pursue. |

meet defeat I wake up in the midst of a dream. I'm moving. There are three of us and three cars. But we are leaving the cars at the airport. I have on some thrift store jeans with the price written in magic marker on them. I'm in a courtyard when a young girl walks by who is about fifty-feet tall. No one seems to notice. Then I'm spending the 'last night here' in a strange house. There is a fire sprinkler in a closet that comes on when I'm trying to get some clothes out. I try to find my toiletries but only find a toothbrush. I have too many meetings. They do distract one from trying to actually do anything, though. There is that. In one I get an action item. I try to avoid that. Darn. I eat lunch on the run between listening to different meetings on the phone. Some nachos here, a banana there. After work, I go by my parents. A cousin of mine is visiting. He was always my 'little' cousin. He is ten years younger than I am. Now he's 43 with his own kids getting older, one nearly twenty-one. He runs a little business for himself, inspecting houses. He believes the Lord helps him succeed. Perhaps he hasn't noticed the great success of some unbelievers. In any case, he buys us dinner at Antonio's. He is sweet, really, but we don't have much to say anymore. He doesn't drink, but he smokes. I don't know what he does for fun. He says he and his brother get together with their wives on Friday nights. He and his brother (two years older than he) were spoiled by me when they were small and I was a teenager. I mean when they were four and six, I was fourteen. The perfect age to play with little kids. Because you still are one. But so much time is gone by. Mom seems better though she is coughing. At least we got her out of the house. She enjoyed the visit. At home, FFP and I fire up the Capresso that has been sent back from the repair station again. We navigate a WEB site to reup a domain. My WIN98 machine crashes and then refuses to come up about three times. It's always something. It comes up when I step through the startup even though I don't omit anything. Once I get an operating system completely overwhelmed by installing stuff I never use, it's time to, um, buy a new machine and sully it. Because I'm too lazy to clean things up. Might as well spend the energy on installing software on a new, faster, better, oh, no, stop me.
