Monday blues I wake up admidst a dream where we are solving some dire puzzle to save lives but, at the same time, it is necessary to go to large classrooms and to interview someone selling expensive tuxedos. People are hanging off precipices but these mundane investigations are necessary. I'm sleeping hard but I manage to roll out around 7:30. I feel dizzy when I sit up on the side of the bed. I must be allergic to mold a little. The counts have been high and I must be a little stuffy because I feel dizzy when I sit up quickly. Of course, it's partly blood pressure, too. So I dive into the coffee and make it go up. I work the NY Times crossword before I go to work. Very amusing. Several entries ending in 'DOTCOM' like MICRODOTCOM, POLKADOTCOM and TURANDOTCOM. . The latter being a Puccini WEB site. Very funny. Work. I have an industry working group call. I'm not very well prepared. I'm still catching up on this stuff but I'm not willing to give up yet. At lunch, I go to Whole Foods. I have a big salad. I take a walk through Linens 'N Things. I want a Mr. Coffee carafe-style coffeemaker for my parents. They have one on display, but none in boxes. Maybe for some other occasion than their anniversary. I'm out of sorts with shopping. I don't want any more stuff. Ever. Yeah, right. Back at work, I try to concentrate. I need to get stuff done. I'm not sure how to accomplish it. And it's hard to concentrate. Nothing to do in the evening. Nothing on the calendar anyway. I feel like having cereal for dinner. We don't usually have it. Or milk. I mention this to Forrest on the phone. Later he calls and says that he got some cereal and milk at the store when it was out. He went to BookStop to buy a copy of Peter Pan. He is getting inspiration to do the TV spot for the ballet. So he just stopped in Central Market and got cereal for me. The cereal is quite satisfying actually. I also have a bit of cheese later. It's funny how you crave certain things. I watch some TV. Boston Public. A documentary about GNU and Linux and Open Source. Crossing Jordan. Then I get on my computer and mess about a bit. And turn on the TV movies again. Wasting time, accomplishing nothing. I wish I knew what it was that I wanted to accomplish. Then I would get right on it. |
