rapprochement Things get out of alignment. Between people and between companies. Simple human adjustments get made in the first case, often. Sometimes, in both cases, lawyers get rich. A simple adjustment is out of the question, until papers are filed and lawyers knot their $100 ties onto their $200 shirts, slap on the Armani and carry bulging briefcases. If the customer was harmed, he is hardly made whole by the process. But. Go figure. My day was one of marveling at rival companies (my rivals) and one's accusastions against the other. And of adjusting my relationships with other people without lawyers.
I work. I am trying to update information and educate myself about a couple of things. SuRu and I have a lunch at Colin B's. It's gotten good press but I'm not overwhelmed by my garlic soup or my grouper. Maybe dinner is better..
We have a gift certificate for Wink that we bought at a charity auction. FFP makes us a 7pm reservation and we arrive and find a parking place right in front of the tiny place. We have a bottle of wine and I have a small spinach salad, carpaccio and foie gras. Small dishes, but filling. Then we go to Four Seasons. Rebecca has already bailed out because of SXSW even though they told FFP on the phone that she hadn't. We have one drink with Jerry Harris, the mayor of the Four Seasons I like to call him. We mention in passing the Andrea Yates ruling, that Mike Tyson will fight and Tanya Harding, too. It's a strange world.
I'm tired when we get home. It's very early but I am asleep quite soon. This won't result in me getting up early, however, sadly. I've been feeling awfully tired lately in the evening.
Observation: when I get up in the morning, I have energy and I feel great. Especially after a nice cup of coffee. I go to work and spend this great feeling on work, while on beautiful spring days sunshine exhausts itself into night making things bloom before your eyes. Isn't it really time to retire?
