back in the groove

I have had lots of vacation, business trips and disolocations since the end of September. But I'm starting to feel back in a groove again.

Today my mind raced with ideas. Every object I saw triggered memories and thoughts.

I worked on my presentation and I cleaned off a bit of my desk. I've decided I need to seriously clean my office at work and at home. I did shred some things (no, nothing like the Arthur Anderson deal, really) and toss some stuff and file some stuff. I hate it when I find notes and I can't tell for the life of me what the discussion was or who it was with. Also, I doodle a lot. The research notebooks that I do keep would drive a person crazy. I know they do that to me.

I call Mom before lunch. She is feeling bad. She has symptoms of a bladder or kidney infection. I go to their house for lunch. She's going to the doctor this afternoon. We go over the meds list and print one for the GP. I help her with a returned e-mail. Dad makes some salad and concocts beef stew from a roast that was too dry and we reheat some leftover spinach. I try not to eat too much. I've lost a few pounds and it would be nice not to find them again.

FFP and several people are having a happy hour at Fonda San Miguel to discuss a Ballet Austin outreach program. So I join them.

First I stop at the house and look at the mail and let the dog out. Then I walk up to Fonda. FFP and our guests seem surprised I walked two blocks. Actually, it would be easier to do if there were sidewalks and safe places to cross the street but that's another story.

I have one glass of wine and spinach salad and corn soup and a few chips. I try to suggest some contacts and some ideas for the folks. Not that I would do any actual work myself. Nope...I just like to throw out ideas.

We head home and I surf the WEB trying to see whether the gotomypc.com software is a security risk (as my buddy Michael has suggested). Then I turn on the TV and watch about fifteen minutes of Jumanji and go to the big room with newspapers. I start to turn on the TV but, no, I have to decided to change things, bust things up, do things differently. So. I just read the papers and some New York Times magazines. It is quiet. FFP reads and falls asleep.

I haven't really decided what to do with this thing although I have caught up and am making entries and even uploading them. They aren't connected to the rest of the WEB site or the splash page for the journal or the archive or recent entries index. They are their own little world. I am considering making a few select readers aware of the location. But I haven't really decided. There has been a certain new freedom in not expecting anyone to stumble by.
