I am still dragging. I find out my bag will be delivered 'before noon.' So I decide to work from home so I'll be here. When my bag finally gets here I take everything out, sorting out dirty clothes, business stuff, gifts and think about what it would have been like to lose it all. No big deal, really and truly. I have lunch with my parents. They are glad to see me. My dad tells me a joke that they have gotten off the Internet. I work the rest of the day in the office. If you want to call it that. I'm not 100 per cent. I decide that I'll take off on vacation tomorrow and get myself right on my own time. We have a banquet for the Austin Community Foundation. We stand up having a drink, meeting greeting, introducing. Once we are sitting down, we have a nice time eating, talking to our table mates, listening to awards. The keynote speaker is, um pompous and self-serving. It is also Dr. Bob Arnot. At one point, I swear he says we need to understand what the Taliban 'hope for for their children.' Um, Dr. Bob, would that be their male children? Anyway, all in all a good event. And our good friends invited us as their guests. And the stories of philantropy and community service were heartening. I've always wanted to be a philanthropist as you may have heard me say. But I never made enough money.
