the mountain |

Today starts with another bit of breakfast with our friends and then we take off for Mt. Hood. But not before stopping at a grocery store where everyone grabbed cheese, crackers, chips. We added a couple of chilled white wines to our nice Pinot we picked up at a wine shop in Cannon Beach. Tina has brought the good crystal. We drive up Mt. Hood and unpack our gear at the lodge. The chips have swollen up tight from the altitude. We take the chair lift up. We hear two snowboarders going the other way. "I thought she was going to be a wild thing, but she was just a dead fuck." We gingerly cross the operating ski and snow board runs (really, snow year round) and sit at a picnic table looking at the gorgeous scenery, drinking and eating. Hikers walking by think they've found a Wein Stube. We leave our lunch scene for a drive by falls and monoliths after taking the chair lift back down. We find a little wine bar (the Hood River Wine and Internet Cafe) for a pick me up (coffees, beer, ginger ale) and watch nutty wind surfers and kite surfers. Then it's on to the Tad's Chicken and Dumpling place. Or as the locals call it, the Chick Dump. Hum, we do seem to end up doing a fair amount of eating and drinking, huh?
