LB's day off Gadgets. I'm obsessed with them. Can I really live for two days without laptops cell phones, Palm, beeper, cameras? We won't find out. Packing is always interesting. Packing to go a couple of miles away is funny, to say the least. Glass tasting. Riedel makes glasses that are designed to allow the wine to best be tasted. There was a tasting that featured these glasses. Unfortunately it was VERY crowded AND the guy presenting thought that he had to show off everything he knew, tell every joke he knew, give every toast he knew. As a result, he didn't talk much about the actual glass shapes or the wine.
Many hundreds of people crowded the ballrooms of the Four Seasons to taste the best from Texas restaurants and taste the festival wines. Too crowded for us. We sampled the new summer menu of the hotel before going to the auction. Auction. A few years ago you might give a lackluster opening bid on a 1982 LaFite and a 1982 Petrus and get the lot. No more. Dellionaires change everything. I'm surprised we got anything. Well, they raised over $125,000 for public TV and the Wine and Food Foundation. That's the good news. |
