bravo Finished listening to Tale of Two Cities on tape in the car today. Hence, the quote. Saw Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo tonight. Hence the picture which is a ballerina doll up for grabs on ebay. I've been browsing around other online journals. I've decided I like the ones who tell something about themselves on a little 'about me' blurb. Not so that you can 'get to know them' but just to put their stuff in context. You know: married, no kids, lives in this state, does this for a living. Some hip dissembling is nice, too. Hiding behind humor that is really no mask. One I found says "If you know me, do NOT read this. If you do, don't talk to me about it." I also like journals that get updated regularly. Not every day maybe but often. I've been drawn into a few rings and 'burbs. Many broken links or journals with last updates months ago. Of course, they have every right to post once a decade if they wish. I like a changing landscape. It means you can surf every day through the same links and see a varied world of individual voices. I also like people who provide quotes, pictures (especially their own original photos) and drawings. I think sidebars with little tangents are OK. Nice, even. It seems you are supposed to have a clever name, too. "LB's Journal and Scrapbook" or just "LB's journal" doesn't cut it. Not that I'm going to change it. I'm also not going to join a ring, burb or compete for awards. (Yes, there are awards for journals.) I'm jealous, though, of the cleverly named 'Perforated Lines.' I'll probably start reading this one. She's about my age, too. Oh, man, it's bad...all these people are so much better at this than I am. I worked today but I didn't make as much progress as I'd have liked. I practiced some presentations I'll give tomorrow and I had a business lunch meeting at Brio Vista. (Hey...you might as well enjoy work.) At the Trock performance we saw about a jillion friends and acquaintences. Pete, Harry, Steven, Brent, Les, Anne, Tam, Denmon and Sandy. The performance was at the Paramount so we parked somewhere on 10th or something and went to Little City for a quick cup of joe before the performance. The performance was funny, of course. Especially, I think, for 'dance insiders.' But apart from the humor, these guys can really dance. On point, too! The jokes I got were funny, but hardly the point for me. Reminds me of something I saw in South Africa called 'Queen at the Opera.' Queen music (of which I'm no expert) with opera jokes. I'm a baby at opera, too. The whole thing was a great show, though. The jokes I got ("Madame Butterfly" was a part of the canon I did know and that was very funny) were nice, but the music and sets and stuff were great no matter what. Much better than any Andrew Lloyd drivel.
