the theme should probably be spring Even though it was a day of shopping and rearranging and listening to old standards...the theme just had to be spring.
We start sort of slowly today. Eventually we work out and shop and unpack stuff into our space. And all the while...it's spring! The redbuds are blooming all over town. Other things are, too. Evening jasmine. Irises. Paper whites. When I went to the club, someone was sitting outside by the pool, sunning. When we went to Whole Foods, there were many shorts and bare arms. (And, given it was that store, many tattoos were exposed. Amazing ink.) When we drove by Zilker park there were fences up for the kite festival and people were practicing with kites. When we got in the car after it sat in the driveway for a while, it was hot. Yep...it's spring. Before we know it, it will be summer and so hot we will wish we were in the rich class that leaves for the whole summer. |

We slept in and weren't that lively after we got up. But we finally did get our workouts and get off to shop. Shopping on Saturday is a mistake. We did buy things, however. More plastic boxes to organize the closet. Another bath mat. A designer clock. A planter. Some artsy night lights. We almost bought a huge, black-framed mirror but decided to measure spots for it first. We bought a few other small things. We grew weary of shopping and went home. FFP had gotten a small CD player/tuner at Sharper Image and a Sub-woofer and we put that together and connected the TV to it and I organized the wires a little. FFP continued to organize his shoe collection. I unpacked glassware into the bar which is back in place in the room in front of the master suite. Soon it was time to get ready to go to hear Karen Kuykendall and her buddy Rick Roemer do a cabaret show. It was a good show with so old favorites and some tunes that I hadn't heard. Home again, we ate nachos and I read the paper.

Newspapers. What a surprise that Martha is guilty. I don't like her but this transaction was such a little fish in her world. I'm not surprised that all those religious groups can't agree on a constitution in Iraq. Religion and politics are like a match and gasoline. Take note, Mr. Bush. Several old copies of The New Yorker. The Amateur Marriage by Anne Tyler. Skipping ahead decades works for her in this book.
